Artist Bio -- Jason 'The Comeback Kid ' Edwards

Making a comeback...

Jason Edwards, known to many as "The Comeback Kid," is a singer-songwriter hailing from Eastern Tennessee. His music embodies the raw honesty of real life, the good, the bad, and everything in between.Beginning his musical journey at age 13, as a  student of guitar great, Adam Hoptman and vocal powerhouse, Jo Benham of Melody Man Talent, an Australian based music school that operated in East Tennessee in the late 90's. By the age of 16 Jason had quickly progressed in songwriting and playing guitar. He began performing professionally in clubs and bars before he was even old enough to be in them. However, his musical foundation is rooted in the gospel harmonies of his childhood church—where his father sang bass in the choir—drawing from all of his musical influences, his sound is a heartfelt blend of Country, Americana, Gospel, Southern Rock and Alternative Country.

Influenced by legendary artists such as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., Tom Petty, and Merle Haggard, Jason moved to Nashville at 18 after a pivotal meeting with music executive Clay Bradley, grandson of famed producer Owen Bradley. Early in his career, the late Hall of Fame songwriter Kim Williams recognized Jason’s talent, offering invaluable guidance that helped shape his songwriting and navigation of the Nashville music scene. Jason has spent much of the last 25 years living in Nashville or the Tri-Cities.

Jason’s journey has been marked by profound challenges, including a near-death experience in 2008. It was following that close call with catastrophe that he was first given the name "The Comeback Kid" by some friends. Jason has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and how that led him to serving time in Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Through these trials, he found strength and renewal in his faith in Jesus Christ, which now inspires much of his music. His songs candidly explore themes of heartache, addiction, redemption, and second chances, striking a powerful balance between the grit of his past and messages of hope and healing.

Performing over 200 shows annually—primarily across East Tennessee and Nashville—Jason has shared the stage with country music greats like Aaron Tippin and Gary Allan. He has performed a long side fellow songwriters in the round at the famous Bluebird Cafe. Recently he has been featured on prominent platforms including WDVX 89.9FM "Blue Plate Special" out of Knoxville, and “The Mountain Matinee” on 96.3 FM "The Possum" with host Canjoe* John. His songwriting has also been spotlighted in publications such as Country Song Roundup Magazine and the Nashville Scene. On the ever evolving musical landscape online, his audience continues to grow daily on sites such as Youtube, Tiktok, Reverbnation, and his own jasonedwardsmusic.com.

In 2023, Jason married Autumn Ford, a fellow music lover and Eastern Tennessee native who occasionally co-writes with him. Together, they continue to craft songs that resonate deeply with audiences. Finding new purpose out of the pain of a troubled past, Jason also performs under the name, CBK, the initials of his nickname. Creating music with a message, exploring Contemporary Christian and Christian Country music that reflects his spiritual journey.

Jason Edwards remains committed to creating "real music about real life." Whether sharing stories of struggle or songs of redemption, his emotion-rich performances and authentic songwriting continue to inspire listeners, proving that even the darkest past can lead to a brighter tomorrow. With new material in progress and a project expected by fall 2025, Jason’s musical story is far from over—and his heart will always belong to his craft and fans alike.
